Pros and cons of SEPTA app for iPhone and iPad
SEPTA app good for
I dont know why there are so many poor reviews but I use this app for the regional rail lines and it is so helpful and accurate!
I really like the SEPTA app. They have worked out a lot of kinks that they had with this app since its inception. I can easily store my favorite schedules, see where trains and buses are, and plan accordingly for all types of trips as a result. For that reason, I would give the app 5 stars (coming from a regular SEPTA rider for years). However, downloading a new schedule pretty much every day or so (because the app recommends I do consistently) has taken up a seemingly unnecessary 200 MB of storage on my device. I would recommend that when downloading a new schedule, older oncs are automatically deleted. This will fix a storage issue that Im sure others find annoying if not problematic. Despite this, I definitely would recommend this official SEPTA app over competitors for any regular SEPTA customer.
This is the best philly SEPTA app. It doesnt look smooth but it actually lets you save favorite routes without spending $5. The other app doesnt work this one gives up to date times.
Some bad moments
You cannot look at next day scheduel
Its not realtime
Its not user friendly
The trains are outdated only accept cash
Cannot but weekly monthly paspass
They need to take a look at amtrak to get ideas
They never update the up when trains switch tracks. They depend on some guy to announce. The list goes on but this is the worst train system ever. Avoid zone 4 if you can
Visiting the Philadelphia area later this week for my college reunion and thought it would be nice to have a SEPTA app since I will be getting around by train. I installed the app, took a look at it and recoiled in horror. It is worse than useless, because it will waste your time trying to figure it out and will never give you the data you are looking for. I tried to look up schedules for getting from the airport to swarthmore and all it did was tell me there are no trains in service...no matter what day I put in. It looks like SEPTA had not improved since I was a regular rider during my college day--30 years ago!!!! This is the first app bad enough to inspire me to write a negative review. And Im thinking it will be worth the extra money to take a cab or Uber. I will always have a fondness for the Philadelphia area because a very meaningful period n my life took place there but for heavens sake, its 2016--SEPTA needs to get its act together!
Whats the point of the app? It doesnt give you up to the moment updates. The 34 trolley was scheduled to arrive at 11:03pm, there shouldve been some type of alert stating the 34 was not running on schedule. I mean whats the point of having all those IT guys and nobody installed up to the minute alerts.
The perfect gift for the masochist in your life, this app will copiously provide all the eye gouging, soul crushing, piss boiling frustration and rage one could ever ask for. A perfect compliment to SEPTAs unreliable and awful transit service, youll swear the only thing missing is some jackass talking on their cellphone at 189 db while flicking fried chicken skin all over the floor. Highly recommended if you hate life.
This app is garbage. Do not use it. The schedules it provides are just wrong. If you look at the airport line schedule it is completely wrong. It is a crappy app for even a crappier company. SEPTA is the worst.
This app is useless. It constantly crashes and has an awful user interface. You would be better off using an atlas to get around.
